Despite “Red Tide”, Stone Crab season kicked off pretty strong in Florida. The algae bloom has been plaguing Florida’s coast for months. Luckily, 65% of the stone crab harvest come from the Florida Keys which wasn’t affected by the tide. The sought after crabs are captured in traps then returned to the water to regrow their claws. To celebrate, South Florida held two festivals including The South Beach Seafood Festival and the South Florida Seafood Festival which took place at Marine Stadium.

The South Florida Seafood Festival is a celebration of all things seafood and waterfront living, giving people their fill of the freshest, tastiest delicacies of the sea. Set in Miami’s historic Marine Stadium, this seafood festival provides you to able to experience a slice of Florida’s diverse culture. What better way to kick off Stone Crab season than to enjoy it by the sea with LIVE Caribbean beats, family fun zones, mojitos bars, and more!

While most states are bundling up for Winter, South Floridians are spending their weekend by the sea in shorts and tank tops while enjoying delicious seafood. The festival had something for everyone. Drinks, games and bounce houses for the kids, food demonstrations, samples, Caribbean music, and most of all FOOD! The choices ranged from conch, shrimp, fish, and mussels to Barbecue ribs , chicken, wings and fries. Whatever your desire it was there.

The Festival continues through Sunday, October 21, 2018.  Tickets are available at the venue or you may purchase them at

https://www.southfloridaseafoodfestival.com/ The fun begins at  11:00am and continues until 7:00pm so don’t miss out on this family friendly event.
