When it comes to being confident, Natalie La Rose is an expert. After leaving all her friends and family back home in Amsterdam, she came to Los Angeles, California, to jump-start her music career. So far, that looks like it was a smart decision.

La Rose’s debut single “Somebody” featuring Jeremih has officially gone platinum, and she just released her second single “All Around The World” featuring Fetty Wap, which is well on its way to joining “Somebody” at the top of the charts. Now, she’s heading out on tour with Fifth Harmony.

Growing up, La Rose knew she was destined to be a performer. After graduating from Lucia Martha’s Dance Academy in Amsterdam, she moved to Los Angeles at the tender age of 20 to pursue her dream of being a musician. The shine of L.A. quickly faded though, as the reality of the industry started to set in. La Rose remembers that tumultuous period in her life. “There were moments that I didn’t get picked at an audition or someone promised they would help me with my music and never did,” she says. “My parents told me I could always come home, but I stuck with it. I didn’t get this far to quit now.”

Sticking with it is what landed La Rose where she is now. She started off as a back up dancer before becoming part of a duo named Amsterdam. She and her partner Sigourey Korper inked a deal with Blackground Records in 2010, but things never really took off for the two. “The group didn’t work out and no music was released. It just wasn’t the right time,” said La Rose.

That “right time” happened in 2011 at an ESPY Awards after party. Channeling all the confidence she could muster, La Rose walked right up to Flo Rida and told him, “I’m going to work with you one day.” Since then, she’s performed alongside Flo Rida across the globe at sold out shows. In 2013, she finally signed a deal with his International Music Group label, giving her the platform she needed.

These days, it’s looking more and more like that plane ticket from Amsterdam to L.A. was the best decision she’s ever made. “I love what I do,” she says. “ I don’t worry about if someone is going to like me or not. It’s all about having fun and good times. I do get a little nervous, but it’s a good nervous.” She advises upcoming artists to stay confident. You never know who you might run into at an after party.

But La Rose has gone from attending after parties to hosting them. And her first two singles have left America craving more. “I’m very inspired by pop and rhythm. There’s a soulfulness and great grove, and since I’m a dancer, it’s important for my music to have a nice beat,” she says. Her second single, “All Around The World” featuring Fetty Wap, highlights these tastes, starting off slow before snowballing  into a high-energy dance beat that moves crowds. She had the entire BET Awards pre-show dancing this past June with amazing choreography that fans can expect to see when she opens for Fifth Harmony.

Natalie La Rose will be joining the girl group on a 29-show North American tour kicking off Wednesday, July 15. Expect to hear her two hit singles, along with a third that will be hitting the radio in late August. “I’m currently working on releasing a third single and an EP pretty soon. Right now, I’m looking forward to creating more music, meeting fans, and this tour.”
